Based on the photographs provided, the said errant coffeeshop operator had placed many tables and chairs along the common walkway below the HDB block, and allow its customers to dine there.

Under SCDF and HDB regulations, it is against the law to place tables or chairs, or any form of obstruction onto any common walkway, which may lead to escape path from the exit staircase or discharge point etc.

The placement of tables and chairs along the common walkway is also an unauthorize encroachment of public area too.

The member hopes the local authority can take some corrective action soon.
